Clara Button au pays des chapeaux

Text by Amy de la Haye
Illustrations by Emily Sutton

Clara Button loves hats! When her elder brother Ollie ruins her favourite hat, the one that belongs to her fashion-designer grandmother, mum suggests going to the Victoria & Albert Museum. Clara is overwhelmed by the great coloured glass chandelier, the marvellous costumes in the fashion gallery, and above all by the outrageous hats she discovers. She boldly sets off alone to find a hatter able repair the damaged hat, and during her quest meets some extraordinary people. Meanwhile, Ollie discovers a world full of swords and tigers!

Amy de la Haye now teaches at the London College of Fashion, having been curator of Twentieth-Century Costumes at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. She is the author of Lucile (V&A, 2009) with Valerie Mendes, and Chanel (V&A, 2011).
Emily Sutton is an illustrator and studied at the Edinburgh College of Art and the Rhode Island School of Design.
